My name is Matthew Smith and I am the Persian cataloger at Harvard University’s Widener Library. I can provide Persian to English translations of texts on any subject, as well as proof reading and typing in Persian. Please contact me by email for the details.

I was introduced to the Persian language in the US Marine Corps in 1987 and have been studying Iran and working with the language ever since, both in academia and as a government employee. My doctoral thesis (Harvard, 2006) dealt with the poetry and prose of Muhammad Taqi Malek al-Sho’ara Bahar, a statesman, scholar and above all, poet of twentieth century Iran.

My goal herein is to provide translations of whatever happens to strike my fancy that week. We’ll probably start with some poetry, then maybe some news items, and go from there. I would have done something tonight but I spent all evening on that masthead.

Ok, onward.
